Sparrow Isabelle Rundvall

This is Sparrow Isabelle Rundvall. She arrived at 11:17 on March 24th. Things went a bit opposite from what we expected in terms of the delivery, however, we are finally home and everything is well.

I ended up having a C-section after 17 hours of what you can't really call labour. You can't really say I went into labour because I didn't have "contractions" or at least get a break from them. I was just in agony for 17 hours as nothing progressed. My water broke earlier that day, or week, I'm not too sure, but I did not go into labour at all. So they had induced me with the strongest inducing agent and maxed out on the dosage and I think even went over what they would normally max out with. It was not very much fun, so by the time the doctor came to say they were strongly considering C-section, I was like "cut me open and get this baby out of me!"

So they did, but because I had a fever during the labour, they took every precaution necessary and rushed Sparrow off to the NICU where she was tested and found to have some sort of infection. It was quite serious because the doctor even did a lumbar puncture (took fluid from her spine) to test for meningitis. Sparrow ended up not having that, however, we believe that God healed her the night we were waiting for the results for the test. If I can find the pictures of the before and after I will post them.

As of right now, Sparrow is sleeping and I think I need to too.

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time in the land of corn there lived a lady and her lord. They were with child and waiting expectantly for their new little bundle of joy to arrive. Alas the days grew longer and longer still as the day of her expected arrival passed by... and then a few more, and then more still. Things were getting uncomfortable for the lady as her belly continued to grow and nothing seemed to be happening to bring forth this anticipated child.

Then one night as the lady lay in her bed feeling quite low, the Spirit of the Mighty One spoke kindly to her. "I am jealous for you," he said in plain terms. "This time is for us to share."

And so the lady being swept off her feet by the Lover of her soul, ran into the Mighty One's arms to be captured by his heart once again.

THE END
or is it just the beginning?

Happy Spring!

Today is the first day of spring, it's not looking very springy out there with the snow and ice, however I am glad that we will soon see warmer weather and green grass again.

Thank you for the comments on my blog Mumby's and Auntie Darlene! I could use all the encouragement I can get right now. Baby rundvall still waits to see the outside world. I don't blame her, it is cold out there right now. If I haven't given birth by the 27th, the doctor will induce labour. I am trusting that it doesn't have to happen that way.

If she comes on the 26th we have been promised a free 4 course meal with wine at the best restaurant in town. Bruce, the chef's b-day is the 26th, so he said he'd gladly do that for us if we happen to have baby that day. And believe me, dinner at Ricardo's is very very good. I don't think there are words.

Speaking of dinner, we were blessed with a lasagne and salad for dinner tonight from our friends Tammy and Darcy, and it is ready at this moment, so I am going to go and enjoy the blessings of the Lord.

D-day, but not exactly

It's March 18th, the day of the due, however I am still quite pregnant and not in any sign of labour at this moment. Trying not to get discouraged as I have thought for the past 2 weeks that it could be anyday. It is no longer a countdown but we are now counting up. Hmm, I guess my greatest concern at point is that this baby is not getting any smaller. God is really not letting me off in this whole trusting lesson. I know it's not unusual to go over your due date, I just hoped it would be the other way around, since it's also not unusual to have the baby a little earlier.

Sigh... I think the worst part is all the pressure I've been feeling from everyone around me to have this baby "right now". Like I can do anything about it. And then everyone's predictions of when she's gonna come. I think people started having "feelings" that this baby will be born today for a good 10 days now.

I don't mean to sound rude, but I really wish that I could shut the world out right now, and just let things take their course, without everyones predictions and input on how to induce labour. I think women think that whatever they did last before they went into labour must have induced it. "Oh, I brushed my teeth, and then the next thing I knew my water broke."

Okay, I think I just needed to get some frustration out.

1 more day

That is so illusive, cause I really don't know if it will be one more day. Tomorrow is the official due date, but when it comes down to it, I think the statistic is, 5% of baby's are born on their due date. So we shall see.

Happy St. Patty's day for any of you Irish fans out there. Actually I am quite a fan of St. Patrick. On one of my visits to the Emerald Isle I went to a museum that told his story. It was WOW. They did it up really artsy and used video imaging, or whatever you call it. Anyways, they did a really great job. He was quite the man of God, and they didn't leave that fact out. It was quite obvious that God was with him, and that he was very passionate about God, and responsible for spreading the gospel all over the island. I think I got saved all over again going through the place. Ironic that the holiday that honors him is all about dressing in green and drinking green beer until you turn green. Gotta love the Irish!

Here's a good Irish joke for yas:

An Irish priest is driving down to New York and gets stopped for speeding in Connecticut. The state trooper smells alcohol on the priest's breath and then sees an empty wine bottle on the floor of the car. He says, "Sir, have you been drinking?" "Just water," says the priest. The trooper says, "Then why do I smell wine?" The priest looks at the bottle and says, "Good Lord! He's done it again!"

Well I thought it was cute.

Off to see the Doctor

We're off to the doctor in a bit. I'm hoping this is the last weekly check-up. Baby Rundvall is due in 6 days, but I'm trying not to think that she could come any minute, cause it makes for some very long days.

Devon and I have been hanging out with some friends of ours who have a game cube. We've played Mario Party with them a few times now. It's so much fun, especially with this couple. Corey and Tiffany are hilarious! Corey is probably the most dramatic person you will ever meet. His nickname is FAB, not for Fabio, or Fabulous, but it stands for... get ready... Fat, Annoying, Bastard, and the funniest part is that he loves it. Anyways, it's been good to laugh with them.

Nothing to terribly new here, still learning to trust God in everything. I think I can be too hard on myself, especially with all the crazy hormones running through my body. I honestly could cry at the drop of a hat if I let myself. Sometimes I do, and it feels really good to release it. Whatever it is. I am feeling a lot of pressure and expectations on me in ministry but even then I'm probably assuming things. I really want a break from "ministry", but not sure how to communicate it to my leadership without sounding like I'm running from my calling. Having a child seems to me to be quite the responsibility right now, and it's the only one I want to have right now.

Well, I should go, or we'll be late for the doctor. If you are reading this, I have this prayer request: for peace and the ability to surrender all my burdens to God, and only carry what He wants me to carry.

Come Baby Rundvall

Oh my... I am really ready to have this baby now. I mean right now. I feel so uncomfortable. I guess I am now starting to dilate. My doctor did an internal exam on me yesterday. It really kinda hurt too, and as a result I thought I was going into labour as we were leaving the hospital from pre-registering. So we just went right back up to the third floor and they monitered the baby and I for a while. Everything was fine, and we were sent home, but to tell you the truth, I got my hopes up for it, and now I sit here, still prego with a sore back and many wacked out hormones. It was an interesting day. That's all I'll say.

I did do some more painting in the baby room, just to get my mind off things. And it is now all complete. The photos above were supposed to be under this part, but I am to tired to change it. They are a few shots of the painting we've been busily doing. It was fun, and I had so much help from some wonderful friends.

Gonna go now, I just got extremely tired.
